A hair transplant operation proceeds within the framework of mathematical rules. The number of grafts that can be taken according to the donor capacity of everyone is different. Depending on the donor capacity, there may even be people who can receive 10,000 or more grafts. Of course, it is a big mistake to take 10,000 grafts at once. It is the best option to take grafts by dividing them into several sessions. Therefore, the hair density in the recipient area of people with a high number of grafts to be taken will be mathematically higher.

Everyone has a different hairline specific to their age and facial structure. An experienced hair transplant doctor knows how to create the most natural hairline suitable for the person. In addition, the front hairline hair should consist entirely of single and thin roots. Direction and angle of transplanted hair

It is also risky to try to transplant too often in one session. Since both the risk of necrosis increases and the capillary damage that feeds the hair follicles will increase, a large part of the hair may not grow even if transplanted frequently. An ideal density is achieved with 40-50 grafts to be transplanted per 1 square centimetre. If a denser image is targeted and the donor capacity is sufficient, it would be better to have a second session of transplantation after 1 year.

Number of grafts transplanted and operation time

The grafts collected in hair transplantation should be transplanted to their new places as soon as possible. Because the time the roots stay outside is limited. Therefore, as the number of grafts increases, the duration of hair transplantation will increase. For this reason, a hair transplantation should be completed within 6-7 hours at most. Because according to what we know from the literature, the rate of loss of hair follicles increases in operations exceeding 8 hours. Therefore, as the time increases, the retention rate of the transplanted hair will decrease and a sparse hair transplantation result will occur.

Generally, 2.000 – 2.500 graft transplantation is completed within 6-7 hours. For this reason, it has become a routine practice in the AHD clinic to divide hair transplantation into 2 consecutive days in graft numbers exceeding this number. For example, in a person who is planned to have 4,000 grafts of hair transplantation, 2000 grafts are taken and transplanted on the first day. On the second day, the same procedure is repeated and 2000 grafts are taken and transplanted. In fact, this is a commercially unfavourable situation. Because we can take another patient and transplant the next day. But we believe that what we do medically is right and we do not compromise on quality.

Let’s keep in mind that even if the same number of grafts are transplanted, a hair transplant will not give the same result in everyone. Each hair follicle taken from the donor area may have a different number of hair follicles. Some grafts may have 1, some 2, some 3, some even 4 or more hair strands. Therefore, let’s consider 3 people with 3000 grafts. Although the number of grafts is the same in these people, the number of hair strands may be 4.000 hair strands in the first person, 6.000 hair strands in the second person and 8.000 hair strands in the third person. Therefore, the hair density of the third person will be twice the first person.

In addition, infection may develop in the donor and recipient area if sterilization rules are not followed. If the infection cannot be controlled, the transplanted roots may die. The desired hair density cannot be achieved due to lost follicles.

Month by month hair transplant results

It takes a certain period of time for the transplanted hair to reach the desired level. Now let’s briefly look at what kind of change you will encounter month by month.

First 1 month: Especially the first 10 days are the period of wound healing. During this period, it is normal to have simple and temporary complications such as pain, redness, crusting and swelling. With the first wash, the scabs begin to fall off slowly. From the second week onwards, the transplanted hair begins to fall out. This situation, which we call shock shedding, is a normal and temporary situation. Mistakes, especially in the first 10 days, can negatively affect the result of hair transplantation. For this, you should follow the recommendations of your doctor after the operation. In the first 2 weeks, it is necessary to be careful in activities such as sports, trauma, hair shaving, washing, sexual activity, sleep and lying position.

1-3 Months: Shock shedding may continue for up to 2 months. In fact, you have entered a period when you will be the most unhappy. You may be worried about the lost hair. In addition, an image disorder occurs in this process due to an inhomogeneous image.

3-6. Months: The lost hair starts to grow sporadically from the 3rd month. The first hairs that grow are thin and sparse. During this period, massage to be applied to the scalp can be beneficial in terms of increasing blood flow. In case of increased blood flow, hair follicles will be better nourished. 60 percent hair growth can be expected at the end of 6 months. However, a desired hair transplant result has not yet been realized.

6-9. Months: Hair growth continues to increase and hair growth starts to accelerate in the recipient area. The hair strands, which were thin in the 7th-8th months, start to thicken at the same time. At the end of 9 months, 80-90 percent hair growth is completed.

12th month: The time required for the desired hair transplant result is 1 year. At the end of 12 months, 95 percent hair growth is completed. The hair will almost take its natural form at the end of this period. For transplants to the crown area, 18 months will be required for 100% result.
